Market on the Mall Attracts Students, Faculty and Derrick the Oiler
Friday, September 01, 2006

Derrick the Oiler and Dr. Freed
Derrick the Oiler and Dr. DeBow Freed,
UF president, visited with local
vendors during Market on the Mall.

Forty-five local businesses participated in The University of Findlay’s fifth annual Market on the Mall, Tuesday, Aug. 29, in the Alumni Memorial Union.

During the event, area businesses sponsored raffles and give-a-ways, passed out coupons and provided free samples of products to the University community, including Derrick the Oiler.

Businesses that participated were diverse, including banks, credit unions, car dealerships, eateries, coffee houses, large and small retailers, car rental agencies, specialized workout facilities, gyms, travel agencies and visitor’s bureaus.

 Great Scot table
Dave Houghtaling (center), manager of
Great Scot Supermarket on Broad Avenue, was among the vendors handing out goodies
and door prizes.

UF holds a no-solicitation policy. “Market on the Mall” is the one day during the academic year where local for-profit businesses are invited to visit the UF campus and meet and greet new, returning and international students and faculty and staff.

For businesses wishing to participate in next year’s event, please call 419-434-4606 or e-mail studentactivities@findlay.edu.
