Photographs on Display in UF’s Lea Gallery
Wednesday, October 04, 2006
Photographs by Cynthia Davis are now on display in The University of
Findlay’s Dudley and Mary Marks Lea Gallery, located in the Virginia B.
Gardner Fine Arts Pavilion.
Davis’ collection, titled “Traverse City and the
Leelanau Peninsula,” will be on display through Oct. 27. The gallery is
open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Davis creates her art by manipulating the gel-like
chemicals in Polaroid photographs while they are developing. The
process gives her photos a dream-like quality, somewhere between
photo-realism and impressionist painting.
The author of two books of photography, “Ann Arbor”
and “Saugatuck & Douglas,” Davis has won more than 100 awards and
has exhibited in numerous shows in galleries and museums. She also has
exhibited her work at major art festivals around the country.
Davis resides in Ann Arbor, Mich.
