UF Faculty to Discuss Kake Bridge Program and Japan
Tuesday, October 17, 2006
The University of Findlay’s Faculty Roundtable will meet at 3:15 p.m.
Wednesday, Oct. 18, in Room 100 of Lovett Residence Hall, located on
the corner of Frazer and North Cory street. Participants in the
roundtable will discuss UF’s Kake Bridge Program and contemporary
Japan. This discussion is free and open to the general public.
For three weeks each summer, students and faculty from The University
travel to Japan as guests of the Kake and Takahashi educational
institutions. The students experience tea ceremonies, cultural dances,
taiko drum performances and local festivals. Tours of various shrines,
temples, castles and other historical sites are given to the group at
each major city.
The exchange started in 2003. UF returns the favor of the Japanese
institutions with the Kake Ambassador Program, when Japanese
representatives visit Findlay. The exchange is designed to give
participants cultural and educational experiences.
For more information on the free, public event, contact Dr. Mark Polelle at 419-434-5954.
