UF Hosts Information Assurance Forum Thursday

The University of Findlay will host its fifth annual Information
Assurance Forum from 9 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, in
Winebrenner Seminary.
The general public, as well as UF faculty, staff and
students, are invited to attend any or all of the free sessions.
Reservations are requested for those who plan on attending the lunch
session at noon, as a box lunch will be provided. R.S.V.P. to Betty

Introductions will begin at 9 a.m. followed by a
presentation of information assurance (IA) certificates to IA graduates
at 9:20 a.m. “The State of IA at The University of Findlay” will be
presented by Loren Wagner, visiting executive director of the Center
for IA Education and senior lecturer of technology management, at 9:40
a.m., and student presentations will begin at 10 a.m. UF’s
community-based research project conducted in conjunction with the
technology infrastructure committee of the Findlay-Hancock County
Chamber of Commerce will be discussed.
Lynn R. Child, CEO of Aardvark Inc. and CentraComm
Communications, will present “The Changing Face of Business: Business
Continuity and Disaster Recovery” at noon. Child has more than 30 years
of experience in business and education. CentraComm Communications was
recently named to CRN’s Fast-Growth 100 list of technology integrators
and solution providers.
Matthew Flick, senior security consultant with FishNet Security, will
present “Protecting Your Digital Assets with Limited Resources” at 1
p.m. Flick has extensive experience in security
policy as well as network, application and physical security. He has
led network vulnerability and penetration tests for several federal
agencies.
The final session will begin at 2:10 p.m. “How to Implement an
Effective Data Backup and Security Program” will be presented by
Christopher D. Bomar, president and founder of Boomarang Data Backup
and Security. Bomar has helped hundreds of individuals and businesses
to protect their data from total loss using online backup technology.
A question-and-answer session will follow the final session.
