Toledo Symphony to Perform on UF Campus Oct. 27

Lisitsa will perform with the
Toledo Symphony.
| The Toledo Symphony, featuring Russian-born pianist Valentina Lisitsa,
will perform at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27, in Winebrenner Seminary as part
of The University of Findlay’s Concert and Lecture Series.
The orchestra will perform “Overture to Russlan and Ludmilla” by
Mikhail Glinka; “Capriccio Espagnol, Opus 34” by Nikolai
Rimsky-Korsakov; and “Concerto for Piano and Orchestra, No. 2” by
Sergei Rachmaninoff featuring Lisitsa.
Born in Kiev, Lisitsa has captured the attention of
audiences throughout the world with her stunning virtuosity, her
consistent grace and clarity, her emotional skill and her originality.
A graduate of the famed Kiev Conservatory, she has won numerous
international awards.
Lisitsa is a frequent guest of numerous orchestras and festivals
including the Indianapolis Symphony and Chicago’s Grant Park Festival
where she has appeared for seven consecutive years. Her career
highlights include her performances of all the Rachmaninoff concerti
with numerous U.S. and European orchestras; a 29-city recital tour in
the United States; a performance of Rachmaninoff’s “Second Concerto”
with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Andrew Litton; and the
world premiere of Schubert-Liszt’s “Schwanengesang” at the Los Angeles
County Museum of Art.
Chelsea Tipton II is resident conductor and has
appeared with major orchestras in the United States include the Chicago
Symphony, Nashville Symphony, Louisville Philharmonic, the Boston Pops
Orchestra, the New World Symphony and the Atlanta Symphony.
Now in its 63rd Season, the Toledo Symphony Orchestra continues to
impact, educate, inform and engage a wide audience in the world of
magic created through music. Last year more than 300,000 people heard
the orchestra. This season, the group’s schedule includes more
than 500 performances in concert halls, public schools, community
centers and on university campuses.
Tickets are $25 for general admission, $20 for senior citizens and $10
for
students. Admission for UF undergraduate and graduate students is
free, but a ticket is required. UF faculty and staff may purchase
tickets for $15. Tickets are available by calling the Box Office at
