Hohenbrink
Hohenbrink will be the first speaker in the Religious Studies Lecture Series.
The University of Findlay’s Religious Studies Lecture Series will begin at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, in Ritz Auditorium with featured speaker Father Michael Hohenbrink of Saint Michael the Archangel Parish in Findlay.

During the month-long series, four religious leaders from different faith traditions will address three topics including the distinct aspects and characteristics of the faith or religion he represents; the aspects and characteristics of his faith or religion that are similar with the other faiths in the series; and the identification and exploration of global issues that are of critical concern to the faith he represents.

The purpose of the series is to provide an enhanced learning environment for both religious studies students and the larger community.

Hohenbrink will discuss Catholicism and Christianity. He is a priest of the Diocese of Toledo and an alumnus of Saint Meinrad School of Theology, Ind., from which he received his bachelor of arts degree and master of divinity degree. Hohenbrink also has a master’s degree in human development from Saint Mary University in Winona, Minn.

He served as a vocation director and vicar for seminarians; chaplain and teacher at Saint Joseph Central Catholic High School in Fremont, Ohio; and pastor of Saint Catherine of Siena Parish in Toledo, Ohio. Hohenbrink was appointed pastor of Saint Michael the Archangel Parish in Findlay in 2000 and was recently appointed the dean of the Carey Deanery.

Future speakers include Rabbi Samuel Weinstein on Oct. 24, Pastor William Miller on Oct. 31 and Imam Farooq S. Abo-Elzahab on Nov. 7.
