UF-USA Early Entry Program Holds Conference
Wednesday, October 11, 2006
The University of Findlay’s University School Articulation (UF-USA)
program will hold a conference from 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct.
12, in UF’s Alumni Memorial Union to discuss and reflect on the current
partnership.
The UF-USA is a dual-enrollment program that provides high school
students the opportunity to take college-level general education
courses in their home school environment and obtain a college credit
for the course. Local teachers are paired with a UF professor who
coordinates the class with them during the entire school year. A
variety of college credits including courses in math, English, science
and history are available for students to complete.
“The conference will bring some of the partner
schools, teachers, UF faculty and school administrators together to
discuss and evaluate the program,” said Glen Piper, UF’s coordinator of
outreach and partnerships.
Initiated in 2001, the program started with just four high schools and
30 students. Today, the program encompasses 26 high schools and more
than 660 students.
“Hopefully the conference will help us continue to improve the program
and better serve the participating schools and high school students,”
said Piper.
