Elchert’s Art Showcased in UF’s 1124 Gallery

Carole Elchert’s “Landscapes and Innerscapes,” a collection of
photographs, is currently showcased in The University of Findlay’s 1124
Gallery through Dec. 15. The gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 8
a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Elchert’s photographic work has appeared in exhibits
in New York, London, Melbourne and Los Angeles. Her images of Tibet
were featured at the 1989 Kalachakra ceremony conducted by the Dalai
Lama, and some photographs are in the permanent collection of The Field
Museum in Chicago, Ill.
A multimedia slide presentation also titled “Landscapes and
Innerscapes” was part of a 1991-92 International Year of Tibet touring
program that visited museums, art centers and universities throughout
the United States including the Smithsonian Institute in Washington,
D.C. and the Mansfield Art Center in Mansfield, Ohio.
Elchert is an assistant professor of communication in UF’s College of
Liberal Arts. With local artist Philip Sugden, Elchert team teaches a
UF honors course on Tibetan culture and since 1991 has conducted
eco-cultural tours to Tibet. She also writes performance prose,
speeches, essays, short stories and novellas.
Future 1124 Gallery exhibits include Jerry Deall’s
“Theatrical Set and Costume Design” from Jan. 19 through March 16, and
Anne Risser Lee’s “UF Campus Photographs,” date to be determined.
