Mazza Museum Expands Educational Programs
Tuesday, January 30, 2007

Learning does not have to be dull, and that is what the Mazza Museum will show with its two new events for families. The Mazza Museum will host the Funday Sunday series and the Storytelling Under the Stars series, both of which are open to the community.

The Funday Sunday series will take place every first Sunday of the month from 1-4 p.m., February through May. During this time, children and adults alike may enjoy listening to storyteller Rand Russell, observe artists creating unique works and listen to community musicians during live performances. Other activities will include college students performing or meeting a storybook character, as well as participating in the creation of a group mural. The museum will offer refreshments for attendees and the new gift shop will be open.

Storytelling Under the Stars is a series to be offered every third Tuesday of the month, from 6:30-7:30 p.m., February through May, at the museum. The museum staff invites families and children to come and listen as the story is brought to life. Refreshments will be offered and the gift shop will be open. For more information on either of these events, please contact the museum at 419-434-4560.

The Mazza Museum of International Art from Picture Books is the world’s first and largest teaching museum devoted to literacy and the art of children’s picture books. Founded in 1982, the Mazza Museum now contains more than 3,000 pieces of original artwork. The mission of the Mazza Museum is to promote literacy by providing educational programs for children and adults by utilizing its pre-eminent collection of original art from children’s picture books.
