Seniors Carolyn Schaeffer, Jessica Morris, Brooke Bosse and Katie Hause were chosen to participate in the OPCICA honors band.

Brooke Bosse, Brittany Hollandsworth, Katie Hause, Jessica Morris and Carolyn Schaeffer represented The University of Findlay at the Ohio Private College Instrumental Conductors Association (OPCICA) Honors Band held Jan. 19-21 at Ashland University.
UF students were nominated through Jack Taylor, director of bands, and then evaluated by the president and president-elect of OPCICA. Overall, 94 college students were selected for the concert band, and 18 for the jazz ensemble, representing 12 Ohio private colleges.

Students selected for the honors jazz ensemble met Friday and Saturday for rehearsals, and gave a public concert Saturday night. Taylor was one of the jazz ensemble conductors. Hollandsworth was featured with a baritone saxophone solo during the concert. Students selected for the honors concert band met Saturday and Sunday for rehearsals and gave a public concert Sunday afternoon.
Bosse, a senior finance accounting major, was selected to play French horn for the concert band. She is a four-year member and principal French horn of the UF wind ensemble. Hause, a senior social work major, also was selected to play French horn for the concert band. She is a four-year member of the wind ensemble and of the Marching Oiler Brass.
Hollandsworth, a senior chemistry and pre-veterinary major, was selected to play baritone saxophone in the jazz ensemble. She is a four year-member of the UF wind ensemble, Oiler jazz and Marching Oiler Brass. Hollandsworth is also president of the Notes Inc., the parent organization to student bands at the University.
Morris, a senior occupational therapy major, was selected to play flute in the concert band. She is a four-year member and principal flute of the UF wind ensemble.
Schaeffer, a senior interpersonal and public communication and marketing major, was also selected to play flute in the concert band. She is a four-year member of the UF wind ensemble, in which she is the principal piccolo and serves as the president.
This group will perform again Feb. 9 at the Ohio Music Educators Association conference in Columbus, Ohio.
