A Tradition Continues at The University of Findlay
Wednesday, January 17, 2007

Community members are invited to experience part of freshman orientation – or what it was like for nearly 25 years – at The University of Findlay on Thursday, Jan. 18, in Ritz Auditorium on the second floor of Old Main. This event marks the first of many celebrating the University’s 125th anniversary.

At 12:15 p.m., members of the UF band will welcome community members and UF faculty, staff and students with a performance of the fight song under the direction of Louis Chenette, former acting president and composer of the fight song.

Richard Kern, Ph.D., professor emeritus of history, will deliver his freshman orientation address, a tradition many UF alumni will remember. Kern first welcomed UF freshmen in 1978 and continued to do so through the fall of 2002. He shared information about the early history of the college as well as interesting stories of Findlay throughout its history. Kern, in full academic regalia, will once again deliver his fondly remembered orientation address on Thursday.

The event will close at approximately 12:45 p.m. with a performance of the alma mater sung by Micheal F. Anders, Ph.D., and accompanied by members of the UF band.
