UF to Provide Free Senior “eHealth” Seminars
Wednesday, February 28, 2007
The University of Findlay and the Hancock County Agency on Aging will offer a series of free seminars to help senior citizens learn how to better obtain reliable health information from the Internet. The seminars will be offered beginning Wednesday, March 14. Sessions for the three-part series will be held from 9:30 – 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, March 21 and March 28, at the Hancock County Agency on Aging, 423 Trenton Ave, Findlay. The seminars are being organized by The University of Findlay’s occupational therapy program in cooperation with the Hancock County Agency on Aging. According to a Kaiser Family Foundation survey, 69 percent of Americans age 65 and older have never used the Internet, yet 65 percent of all Internet users are looking for health and medical information. Topics for the series include helping seniors to understand their own health conditions and how to become more actively involved in managing their health care. The workshops include hands-on exercises to ensure the participants are comfortable in their ability to find reliable and useful information. Basic typing skills are recommended for participation in the course. Participants are asked to attend all three sessions. For more information, contact Jane Ickes of the University’s occupational therapy program, at ickes@findlay.edu or 419-434-6936.
