Sunday, February 11, 2007
“Exhibits on Vietnam” will be on display in The University of Findlay Shafer Library lobby through April 27. The exhibits are part of the “Vietnam on Campus” activities.
The topics of the exhibit will change every two weeks. The current exhibit will be on display until Sunday, Feb. 18. This exhibit includes a map of Vietnam and surrounding countries, a Vietnamese flag, facts about Vietnam such as population, official language, capital and currency, and fliers about “Vietnam on Campus.”
Tran Le Hoa Tranh, Ph.D., will create the exhibits. She is a visiting scholar-in residence from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities – Ho Chi Minh City, an affiliated member of Vietnam National University.
Tran holds a doctoral degree in the theory and history of literature, a master’s degree in Vietnamese literature, and two bachelor’s degrees – one in English language and the other in literature. She is a main lecturer of Chinese literature and has taught Vietnamese literature, Vietnamese linguistics, Chinese classical fiction and more.
Her visit is funded by a grant from the American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS) and the Asia Network. Tran will be here until May. While here, she will be participating in various activities to incorporate Vietnamese culture into life at the University.
