“Messiah” Rehearsals to Begin at the University of Findlay
Tuesday, March 06, 2007

Community members are invited to perform George Frederic Handel’s “Messiah” with The University of Findlay Concert-Chorale and Findlay-Area Community Chorus at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 15, as part of the University’s 125th anniversary celebration.

Several professional soloists and an orchestra will perform with the group. Evening rehearsals will begin March 13 in Ritz Auditorium on the second floor of Old Main.

The performance will be held in Findlay High School’s Heminger auditorium and will be directed by Micheal F. Anders, Ph.D., professor of music and director of choral activities, who is celebrating his 25th year at the University. Anders’ goal is for more than 100 singers to participate in the performance.

Interested vocalists are welcome to attend UF choir rehearsals from 3:30 – 5 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays in room 209 of the Egner Center for the Performing Arts. Additional evening rehearsals are scheduled for those who are unable to attend during the day. Rehearsals will be held from 7 – 9:30 p.m. Tuesdays, March 13, 20 and 27 and April 3 and 10 in Ritz Auditorium.

Singers are asked to provide their own copy of the Leonard VanCamp edition of “Messiah,” which can be purchased for $7.58 at Groman’s Music, located at 729 N. Main St., Findlay. If you already own a copy of “Messiah,” the VanCamp edition is compatible with most popular editions.

Contact Anders with additional questions and to register at 419-434-4717 or 419-434-4531 or e-mail anders@findlay.edu.
