Youth Invited to Participate in UF’s SummerStock Youth Conservatory
Monday, March 05, 2007
SummerStock staff at The University of Findlay invites young actors and actresses to spend a week “Backstage for SummerStock” June 25-29. Applications are currently being accepted for the 2nd Annual SummerStock Youth Conservatory.
During the week-long conservatory, students will be directly involved with the creation of SummerStock’s productions of “Cheaper by the Dozen” and “Into the Woods.” They will work backstage learning about and contributing to the various aspects that go into putting on a theatre production. The participants will learn the vocal music, choreography, acting/character work and painting/construction techniques that will be used in both productions. In addition, up to eight conservatory students may be chosen to act in the professional productions, which will perform July 11-15 and July 25-29.
The week-long conservatory will be led by the master teachers and theatre professionals involved with the 2007 SummerStock productions.
The conservatory is open for students who have just completed first grade through eighth grade. The students will be separated into the following groups: those entering second and third grade, those entering fourth and fifth grade, and those entering sixth through eighth grade. No past experience in art or theatre programs is required. Space is limited to the first 60 applicants. The cost is $65.
