The University of Findlay’s Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition opened Monday, April 2, in the Dudley and Mary Marks Lea Gallery in the Virginia B. Gardner Fine Arts Pavilion and will remain open 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday through April 27. It is free and open to the public.

The Best of Show award went to junior art major Justin Kruczkowski for his painting “Portrait of a Potter.” Kruczkowski also received a first-place award for his ceramics “2 Brothers Malcolm and Davis.”

First-place awards were given to senior Sara Kear for her printmaking piece “Ronnie Kear” and her painting “Ocracoke Island;”  senior Adam Zwiebel for his drawing “Faceless Vanity;” sophomore Jacob Cramer for his photo “Print No. 11:59;” senior Stephanie Winkel for her graphic drawing “Raha Wine;” junior Amy Dorfe for her design “Asian Box;” and freshman Ian Cobb for his sculpture “HZ.”

Many of the pieces in the exhibit are for sale.

Entries were judged by UF faculty and Dan Brown, visiting judge and art teacher at Arcadia Local Schools.

“As an art instructor, I always look forward to the opportunity to view new and innovative works of art. The art selected for this show was definitely that and more,” said Brown. “I found all of the pieces of work to be of high quality and well grounded in the fundamentals of the art process.”
