Senior Brooke Bosse,
French horn soloist

The University of Findlay Wind Ensemble and Symphonic bands will perform at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 22, in the Winebrenner Theological Seminary auditorium.

The concert’s theme is “Two Thumbs Up – Music of Hollywood.” Wind Ensemble selections will include, among others, “Don’t Rain on My Parade” from the movie “Funny Girl,” music from the movie “The Incredibles,” and “Rondo from Concerto No. 3 in E Flat, K.V. 447” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, featuring senior French horn soloist Brooke Bosse.

Bosse is completing her eighth semester as a scholarship student in music, and has presented solo or ensemble recitals each term. She has been principal French hornist in the Wind Ensemble for each of her four years and is a past member of the University’s Marching Oiler Brass and Jazz Ensemble, playing trumpet and trombone in addition to her primary instrument. She is the 2006 winner of the John and Marion Van Nice Scholarship Competition and was selected to perform in the All State Band of the Ohio Private Colleges Instrumental Conductors Association in 2007.

The Symphonic Band will perform selections such as “When You Wish Upon a Star” from the movie “Pinocchio,” highlights from the movie “Jurassic Park,” and a piece from the movie “Pirates of the Caribbean.”

Honor students will be introduced after the performances, as will the 2007 recipients of both the Ronald C. Cable Instrumental Scholarship and the John and Marion Van Nice Instrumental Scholarship.

The afternoon will conclude with “The Wizard of Oz,” performed by both the Wind Ensemble and the Symphonic Band.

Both bands are under the direction of Jack Taylor, professor of music at UF.

The concert is open to the public and tickets may be obtained by contacting the campus box office at 419-434-5335. Tickets are free for UF students, faculty and staff, $5 for general admission and $3 for students and senior citizens.
