UF to Host Physical Therapy Grand Rounds Presentation
Thursday, April 05, 2007

The University of Findlay’s Physical Therapy Program will host its Grand Rounds Presentation, “The Acute Care of the Pediatric Client: Emphasis on Developmental Care,” from 3-5 p.m. Thursday, April 12, in Winebrenner Seminary, Room 254, on the UF campus. The presentation is open to students, academic faculty and clinical faculty.

The goal of the program is to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas in order to enhance the clinical expertise and critical thinking skills of those who attend. Course topics include medical topics in pediatric acute care and neonatology, as well as developmental therapy evaluations and interventions.

Following the program, attendees will value individual differences when engaging in pediatric acute care physical therapy; become familiar with the concepts of developmental care; and be exposed to concepts of developmental therapy evaluation and intervention.

The keynote speaker will be Roberta L. Wilkowski, MPT, a developmental physical therapist at Columbus Children’s Hospital in Ohio with a specialty in Neonatal Intensive Care.

Wilkowski became a physical therapy assistant (PTA) after receiving her associate’s degree from the University of Cincinnati in 1998. She earned her master’s degree in physical therapy (PT) from The University of Findlay in 2004. In addition to her PT experience, she has six years of PTA experience in acute care including hematology, oncology, respiratory and several other PT practice patterns at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.
