College of Liberal Arts Presents First Student Leadership Awards
Monday, May 14, 2007
Three graduating seniors were awarded the first student leadership awards recently from The University of Findlay’s College of Liberal Arts. Christen Mathern, Jenna Wasserman and Linda Davison were selected because they exemplify the college’s motto: “Learn to Lead.”
Mathern, a theatre major, received the Campus Leader Award for her participation as president of Alpha Psi Omega, an honorary theater fraternity. In that role, she added a strong service component to the group and led the fraternity’s first completely student-produced play.
A law and the liberal arts major, Wasserman received the Leader of Tomorrow Award. She was the Student Government Association’s first female president and made significant constitutional changes that enhanced the equitable distribution of funds across student groups. She also was instrumental in organizing the Sociology Club.
Davison was awarded the Scholar of Leadership Award. As a religious studies major, Davison wrote an in-depth paper on the Biblical character of Deborah. In addition, she explored the role of women in the ministry, specifically among African-Americans, Mennonites and Episcopalians.
