Tetzloff’s Photos to be Featured in 1124 Gallery
Monday, June 04, 2007

The artwork of Jason Tetzloff, Ph.D., a local professional photographer with more than 25 years of experience, will be showcased in The University of Findlay’s 1124 Gallery June 5 through Aug. 10.

The show, titled “Transitions: Works in Progress,” will highlight some of Tetzloff’s work from over the years and will include traditional silver-based photographic work, digital photography and works that are a combination of film-based photography and digital printing.

“The nature and the technology of photography has changed a great deal in the 25-plus years I have been doing this professionally,” said Tetzloff. “Photographers get to change with it and often get to reinvent themselves as well.”

The show includes a space for very recent work and work that is created during the summer. “I often self-assign projects,” said Tetzloff. “It’s a throwback to when I worked for newspapers, and it’s a way to make me take photos and try new techniques.”

Tetzloff worked for 13 years for the Eau Claire Leader-Telegram, a midsized daily paper in Eau Claire, Wis. He also has freelanced extensively, and his work has been published in the Chicago Tribune, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinal, the Bellingham, Wash., Herald and many other regional and national publications. He earned both his bachelor and master of arts degrees in history from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, and his doctorate in Native American and 20th Century United States history from Purdue University. He currently is chair of Arts and Sciences at Owens Community College in Findlay, where he teaches in and directs the First Year Experience program and teaches photography.

The 1124 Gallery opened for the first time in October 2005. Featured artists have included UF faculty, staff and alumni, as well as community artists. Exhibits such as paintings, weavings and photographs have been a few of the mediums displayed.
