Mazza Summer Study Tour to Visit Artists in California
Monday, June 11, 2007

Fifty-six friends, docents and donors of the Mazza Museum of International Art from Picture Books will depart from Findlay on June 18 to visit the homes and art studios of 15 children’s book artists and authors as part of the 2007 Mazza Summer Study Tour. This year, tour participants will fly to California, spending the majority of their time in the San Francisco area. The group will return June 24.

Artists and authors scheduled for the 2007 tour include: Bob Barner, Katherine Tillotson, Julie Downing, Jane Wattenberg, Ashley Wolf, Sarah Klise, Marissa Moss, Daniel San Souci, Elisa Kleven, Jim LaMarche, Teri Sloat, Stacy Schuett, Yuyi Morales, Ashley Wolff and Christy Hale.

Each artist will spend time with the tour group answering questions, signing books and giving insight into his or her world of children’s picture book illustration. The tour group will also have the opportunity to have lunch with several of the authors and artists participating in the tour.

When asked what he was most looking forward to during the trip, Benjamin Sapp, deputy director of the Mazza Museum and instructor of the College of Education, commented, “I look forward to seeing the artists, where they create their books and how they create. It is also nice to make new friends each year, both in artists and those traveling with us.”
