Jazz Musician to Raise Funds for Flood Victims
Wednesday, September 12, 2007

Renowned New Orleans jazz musician Chucky C and Clearly Blue band will perform on The University of Findlay campus at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17, on the Cory Street Mall to raise funds for both local flood victims and Hurricane Katrina victims.

There is no fee to attend the concert. Donations will be collected for flood victims.

The campus radio station, WLFC 88.3, will air the concert live.

Chucky C is a survivor of Hurricane Katrina. He lost his primary residence, located in the lower ninth ward, and his wife died from storm-related stress. He is re-building a home in the upper ninth ward.

In May 2007, a local group of 25 volunteers traveled to New Orleans to help with recovery efforts. While there, the group met Chucky C while working on a condominium and is helping him spread awareness of the devastation that remains in New Orleans and the Gulf Coast. The band also wanted to raise funds for local flood victims after hearing about the flooding in Findlay.
