UF to Host Writer Gildner Oct. 3

Writer Gary Gildner will read from his most recent book “Somewhere Geese are Flying,” published by Michigan State University Press, at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, in the Malcolm Dining Room, located in the Gardner Fine Arts Pavilion at The University of Findlay.

Hosted by the University’s English department and the Convocations Committee, the event is free and open to the public. A book signing and reception will follow Gildner’s reading. For more information, call 419-434-4721 or e-mail hofer@findlay.edu.

Gildner, who lives on a ranch in Idaho’s Clearwater Mountains, started publishing in the 1960s and has 20 published books in several genres — fiction, poetry and memoir. He has won many major awards, including the 1996 Iowa Poetry Prize, Pushcart Prizes in both fiction and non-fiction and two National Endowment for the Arts Fellowships, among many others.

He has been a writer-in-residence at numerous universities and a Senior Fulbright Lecturer to both Poland and Czechoslovakia.
