Registrations are being accepted for The University of Findlay’s India study abroad program, June 4 through June 15, 2008.
Participants will experience the Indian culture, explore business, observe educational systems, learn about different religions and visit early Christian sites at
St. Thomas Mount and
San Thome Basilica. Other benefits to the trip include experiencing multinational hospitality, relaxing in a beach resort and tasting authentic gourmet foods.
Organized by Nabarun Ghose, D.B.A., professor of marketing and business, the tour will begin in Chennai, a city rich in economics, industry, education, history and culture. The city is home to Tamil Cinema, commonly known as Kollywood. While in
Chennai, visitors will attend a lecture and guided tour of Dakshinachitra, a real-life Indian cultural village with working craftsmen and artisans, followed by shopping in the city famous for its silks, paintings, carvings and modern shopping malls.
Other highlights of the trip include lectures and guided tours of
Tata Consultancy Services, the multi-specialty
Lifeline Rigid Hospital,
Larsen and Toubro Infotech Limited and other successful companies known around the globe. Learn about India’s school system during visits to Kumararani Meena Muthiah Matriculation Higher Secondary School and the
Indian Institute of Technology.
Open to community members, as well as to UF faculty, staff and students, this opportunity will allow participants to further their professional development and take advantage of a unique cross-cultural experience. Optional undergraduate and graduate course credit is available.
The cost of the trip is $3,300 if you sign up by Oct. 31, 2007; $3,500 by Dec, 31, 2007; and $3,700 by April 30, 2008, which includes round-trip airfare from Detroit, Mich., to Chennai, India. Individuals have the option to purchase their own airline tickets and pay $1,600 for the program only.
