Men's Golf Team Captures Title

The University of Findlay men’s golf team captured its first Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) golf championship Tuesday, Oct. 9, at the Findlay Country Club.

The Oilers were in fifth place, 10 shots behind Ashland University, after the second round, and came from behind in round three to win by one stroke on the final day.

As a team, the Oilers posted a three-day score of 879. Ferris State University and Ashland University tied for second place at 880. The UF team’s total was its lowest score ever at the GLIAC tournament and the lowest mark in the history of the school for a 54-hole event.

Team members included senior Eric Atsma and freshman Kyle Nickson, who tied for second at the event with a 218, freshman Joe McGeean, senior Adam Craig and junior Kory Kotterman.
