UF Bands to Perform Christmas Concert Dec. 2

The University of Findlay Symphonic Band and UF Wind Ensemble will perform its annual Christmas concert, titled “A New Twist on Some Old Holiday Favorites,” at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, in Winebrenner Theological Seminary. Tickets are $5 for general admission, $3 for students and senior citizens and free to UF students, faculty and staff with a valid I.D. Call the Box Office at 419-434-5335 or purchase tickets at the door. Senior equine business management major Stephanie Loehr of Mt. Cavalry, Wis., will be a featured flute soloist on “Concertino” by Chaminade. Loehr is the winner of the 2007 John and Marion Van Nice Instrumental Music Scholarship Competition. Other selections will include “Jingle Bells Forever,” presented in the style of a Sousa march; “I Saw Three Ships,” presented as an Irish-style dance; and “Carol of the Bells,” presented in the style of a Spanish flamenco dance. Marie Louden-Hanes, Ph.D., will serve as narrator. The concert also will feature the premiere performance of a new work by director Jack Taylor. “Emmanuel” is a Persian-style treatment of the carol “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel.”
