“Teaching Grammar for Communication” Topic of Presentation

Internationally-known author and lecturer Diane Larsen-Freeman, Ph.D., will present “Teaching Grammar for Communication” at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, at The University of Findlay in Pfeiffer Lecture Hall, located in the Gardner Fine Arts Pavilion.

There is no cost to attend the presentation. Community members are welcome. A reception will be held from 4:15 to 5 p.m. A question-and-answer session will follow Larsen-Freeman’s presentation from 6 to 6:30 p.m.

Larsen-Freeman is an applied linguist and director of the English Language Institute at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Her interests include second-language acquisition and language teacher education. In her most recent book, “Teaching Languages: From Grammar to Grammaring,” Larsen-Freeman argues that language needs to be conceived and taught as a dynamic system.

She received a doctorate in linguistics from the University of Michigan.
