Wendell and Florence Minor to Speak at UF’s Mazza Museum

The Mazza Museum of International Art from Picture Books at The University of Findlay will host illustrator and author Wendell and Florence Minor at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, in the museum, located in the Gardner Fine Arts Pavilion on the UF campus.

Admission is $5. To register, send name, address, city, state, ZIP, phone number, number of people attending and a check in the amount of $5 per person to the Mazza Museum, 1000 N. Main St., Findlay, Ohio, 45840. The last day for mail-in registration is Nov. 10. Tickets will be available at the door depending on pre-sale.

The presentation will be followed by a book and gift sale, as well as autographing. The Mazza Enthusiasts holiday gift shop bonanza will be open.

Drawing from his lifelong affinity for environmental issues to create illustrations for children’s books, Wendell Minor aims to inspire children to see wildlife in its natural habitat and to give children a positive perspective about the beauty of the world. Florence Minor is a former film editor for ABC television. The couple’s first picture book collaboration, “Christmas Tree,” was published in 2005.

Other picture books illustrated by Wendell include “Reaching for the Moon” by Buzz Aldrin, “Sitting Bull Remembers” by Ann Turner, “Ghost Ship” by Mary Higgins Clark, “Nibble Nibble” by Margaret Wise Brown and many others. Wendell’s cover illustrations have enhanced more than 200 works, including bestsellers “Truman” by David McCullough, “The Prince of Tides” and “Beach Music” by Pat Conroy, “To Kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee and many others.
