‘Tis the season to deck the halls…and Deck the Trees.

On Thursday, Nov. 29, the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) held its seventh annual Deck the Trees event in the Alumni Memorial Union. Twenty-two university organizations took advantage of the opportunity to decorate a tree provided by PRSSA.

The theme of this year’s event was “I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas… Just Like the Ones I Used to Know” in honor of The University of Findlay’s 125th anniversary.

After the organizations finished decorating their trees, the trees were judged by two UF alumni to determine winners in four categories. The winners included Horse Club, Best Representation of the Theme; Newman Club, Most Creative; Habitat for Humanity, Best of Show; and Sigma Kappa, People’s Choice.

Besides showcasing the creativity of the participating organizations, the event featured a live broadcast by UF’s radio station, WLFC, and giveaways sponsored by PRSSA and the Student Government Association (SGA). There were cutout cookies for students to decorate and other refreshments to enjoy, and Old Saint Nick even stopped by to join in the fun and take pictures with students.

In an effort to spread Christmas joy beyond the UF campus this year, PRSSA teamed up with Toys for Tots. Each participating organization was encouraged to bring new, unwrapped toys to put under the tree they decorated. At the end of the event, these toys were collected by members of PRSSA and placed into a Toys for Tots donation box on campus.
