Comedy Jam 2008 Welcomes Three Acts
Wednesday, January 23, 2008

The University of Findlay will host Comedy Jam 2008, featuring Team Rootberry, Rip Michaels and Ryan Hamilton at 10 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, in the Alumni Memorial Union. There is a $1 entrance fee to the event, which will be set up like a comedy club, and limited refreshments will be served.

Current UF students will be admitted free with a valid Oiler OneCard.

Team Rootberry, who has won five International Juggling Championships, will open the show and emcee throughout the night. The team of two has been seen on CNN, Speed Channel, Discovery, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN8 and more. They incorporate comedy, award-winning juggling and outrageous stunts, such as sword swallowing, with audience participation. Click here to visit Team Rootberry’s Web site.

Stand-up comedian Rip Michaels will be the first headliner of the night. Born and raised in Chicago, Michaels uses his take-no-prisoners style to keep audiences entertained and laughing as he touches on universal issues such as relationships, world issues and therapeutic value of a good life. He has appeared on TV networks such as BET, MTV and Comedy Central. To visit Michaels’ MySpace page, click here.

The second headliner of the night, Ryan Hamilton, will complete the Comedy Jam lineup. Hamilton started performing in the spring of 2001, and in 2003, he was chosen as a semifinalist in the Seattle International Comedy Competition and Comedy Central’s Laugh Riots and as a finalist at the Las Vegas Comedy Festival’s Laugh Across America Contest. In 2005, he won Sierra Mist’s America’s Next Great Comic Search, which included a national tour. Twice he was invited to the Boston Comedy Festival and HBO’s prestigious Las Vegas Comedy Festival. Hamilton also was selected to be a member of The Clean Guys of Comedy, which will perform shows at more than 30 theaters around the country. In 2007, Ryan made his Comedy Central debut on “Live at Gotham,” and was a semifinalist on NBC’s “Last Comic Standing.” To visit Hamilton’s Web site, click here.
