The Toledo Symphony Orchestra to Perform Classics Jan. 25

The Toledo Symphony Orchestra will perform a classics concert at 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, as part of The University of Findlay’s Concert & Lecture Series. The performance will take place in the Winebrenner Theological Seminary, adjacent to the University campus. The concert is made possible, in part, through the generous sponsorship of Gene and Elaine Stevens of Gene Stevens Honda, Huntington National Bank and Whirlpool Corp.

Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for senior citizens and $10 for students. Admission for UF undergraduate and graduate students is free, but a ticket is required. UF faculty and staff may purchase tickets for $15. Tickets may be purchased by calling the UF Box Office at 419-434-5335.

Chelsea Tipton II, in his fifth season with the Toledo Symphony, will conduct the orchestra. Tipton appears regularly with major orchestras throughout the United States.

The evening’s program includes Mozart’s Overture to Don Giovanni, Johann Sebastian Bach’s Concerto for Violin and Oboe, Jean Sibelius’ Karelia Suite and Franz Lizst’s Les Preludes.

Soloists are violinist Kirk Toth and oboist Kimberly Bryden. Concertmaster Toth joined the Toledo symphony in 1983. He appears frequently as a soloist on several of the Toledo Symphony Orchestra concert series. Bryden is principal oboist, frequent soloist and featured chamber musician of the Toledo Symphony Orchestra and performs as a guest artist with the Cleveland Orchestra, the Detroit Symphony and the Detroit Chamber Winds.

The Toledo Symphony Orchestra will perform at Winebrenner Theological Seminary at 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, with guest pianist Tomoko Kanamaru for the final performance in the 2007-2008 Concert & Lecture Series.
