The University began just after 2 p.m. notifying students, faculty and staff that the City of Findlay has issued a boil-water order at 1 p.m., and has been working since to ensure a continuous supply of safe drinking water for the campus.

An alert posted at 1:45 p.m. by Mayor Pete Sehnert’s office advised all those who drink water from the city water supply to boil water for one minute and allow it to cool, or to use bottled water for human consumption, including drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth and food preparation. The order is in effect indefinitely.

The order stems from higher than normal turbidity (cloudiness) levels as a result of the flooding that struck the area beginning Wednesday. Those with questions may contact the city’s Emergency Call Center at 419-424-7000.

The University is continuing to care for students affected by the flooding that began Wednesday. On Wednesday night, 60 students were evacuated from housing along Howard Street and Defiance Avenue. Several chose to stay with friends while some were relocated to other University housing. All are eligible to receive meals in Henderson Dining Hall while they are displaced from their regular housing.
