Many faculty members were honored for their service to the University during a faculty appreciation and recognition dinner, hosted by DeBow Freed, Ph.D., president of UF, Feb. 28 in the Alumni Memorial Union.

Faculty members honored for completing 20 years of service were Michael C. Reed, Ph.D., professor of TESOL and bilingual education, and Anthony Wilgus, associate professor of social work.

The David L. Allen Award for Teaching Excellence was given to Robert Rustic, director of business management and assistant professor of business.

Dale Brougher, Ph.D., associate professor of religion, was presented with the Founders’ Academic Excellence Award.

The Elizabeth S. Gupta Award for Excellence in Teaching Fine Arts was given to Micheal F.Anders, Ph.D., professor of music and director of the music program, who was unable to attend due to a concert commitment.

The Shiv Kumar Gupta Award for Excellence in Teaching Business was given to John Wolper, Ed.D., director of the hospitality management program and associate professor of business.

Nicole Diederich, Ph.D., associate professor of English and writing center director, was named the 2008 Faculty Chair in the College of Liberal Arts.

Timothy Murphy, Ph.D., associate professor of environmental safety and health management, was named the 2008 Faculty Chair in the College of Sciences.
