UF Presents Patent Law Speakers
Friday, March 28, 2008
The University of Findlay will present “Patently Good Ideas: Basics of Patent Law” from 6:30–8:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, in the Davis Street building, Room 102.
Registered patent attorneys will provide an overview of intellectual property, explain the differences between patents, trademarks, copyright and trade secrets, and will be available to answer questions about patent law. This service is free and open to students and the public. Light refreshments will be served.
Jacob M. Ward, Esq., and Srikumaran Melethil, Ph.D., J.D., will be the featured speakers. Ward is a patent attorney with Fraser Clemens Martin & Miller LLC. Melethil is a patent attorney and a professor and chair of pharmaceutical sciences at UF.
The University recognizes that the economy is becoming increasingly knowledge-based. Intellectual property, such as patents, plays a vital role in economic growth and development. Knowledge of intellectual property, and specifically patents and the patenting process, is important to entrepreneurs, small businesses and large companies.
