Alumnus David Kay to Offer Presentation

The University of Findlay will host visiting executive and alumnus David W. Kay, former executive vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer of Gibraltar Industries Inc., Friday, April 18.

David KayAt 12:15 p.m. in Winebrenner Theological Seminary, Kay will offer a public lecture titled “Values, Ethics and Credibility in the Business World.” All are welcome. There is no cost to attend.

UF accounting alumni will attend a breakfast meeting with Kay at 7:30 a.m. April 18 in the UF Village Café. Douglas Asbury, director of accounting, will announce a new mentoring program for accountants.

Kay also will speak to several business classes during the course of the day.

Kay recently retired from Gibraltar Industries Inc., a company he joined in March 2004. Gibraltar, with annual sales of $1.3 billion, is a leading manufacturer and distributor of more than 5,000 residential and commercial building products and one of North America’s leading metal processors.

Kay previously had been a director, vice president, treasurer and chief financial officer for Tecumseh Products Co., a $1.8 billion global manufacturer of hermetic compressors, small gasoline engines, general-purpose pumps and electric motors.

Prior to joining Tecumseh Products, Kay was corporate controller at RTI International Metals Inc., a $400 million manufacturer of titanium metal, for 16 years. He also worked at Sharon Steel Corp. as director of corporate accounting.

A certified public accountant, Kay began his career at Ernst & Ernst, where he worked with a wide range of organizations, including a number of small and large manufacturers. Kay received a B.S. in accounting from The University of Findlay.
