Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble to Present “Moments in American History”

The University of Findlay’s combined Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble will present its spring concert, “Moments in American History … Remembered in Music,” at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 13, in Winebrenner Theological Seminary.

Musical works will depict events in American history such as the English settlement of Jamestown, the Lewis and Clark expedition, the Trail of Tears, the California gold rush, the attack on Pearl Harbor, Neil Armstrong’s lunar walk and the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. The concert will be conducted by Jack Taylor, professor of music and director of bands.

Prior to the concert, several honor band students will be recognized, and the winners of three 2008-2009 endowed musical scholarships will be announced.

Admission to the concert is $5 for general admission, $3 for students and senior citizens and free to UF students, faculty and staff. Tickets may be reserved in advance by calling the UF Box Office at 419-434-5335. Tickets also will be available at the door.
