UF to Host Town Hall Meeting on Diversity and Race Relations

The University of Findlay and the Black Heritage Library will co-host a town hall meeting on cultural diversity and race relations from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, in the Alumni Memorial Union on the UF campus. Longtime educator and diversity advocate Dr. Howard Ward will be the speaker for the event, along with a panel of community leaders including Findlay Mayor Pete Sehnert and Hancock County Sheriff Michael Heldman, among others, who will provide insight on challenges facing the community as well as discuss possible solutions. Ward has worked in higher education for 29 years and has received numerous awards for his work with students, promoting diversity and participation in community service. He is actively involved in United Way leadership positions at Rochester Institute of Technology, where he currently serves as assistant vice president of housing operations, and serves on several nonprofit boards including the Women/Children Crisis Center, African American Family Resource Center, Hospital Advisory Board and Bi-Racial Partnerships. The event is free and open to all, and a light lunch will be served.
