TSO to Perform Sept. 12

The University of Findlay’s 2008-2009 Concert and Lecture Series will begin at 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, in Winebrenner Theological Seminary with the Toledo Symphony Orchestra’s Pops and the Piano concert. Maestro Chelsea Tipton II will conduct the performance, with Julie Spangler featured on the piano. Selections include “Cuban Overture” by Gershwin, “A Salute to Broadway” arranged by Strommen and “Adventures on Earth from E.T.” by Williams, among others. Sponsors for the evening include Dr. C. Richard Beckett and Mrs. Linda Beckett; Dr. Richard E. White and Mrs. Jennifer Payne-White; Dr. Charles Younger and Dr. Mariann Younger; and Fifth Third Bank. Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for senior citizens and $10 for students. Admission for UF undergraduate and graduate students is free, but a ticket is required. Future performances in the Concert and Lecture Series include The Toledo Opera at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24; and The Toledo Symphony Orchestra at 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, 2009, and 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, 2009.
