New DPT Program Accepting Applications Through Dec. 1
Tuesday, September 30, 2008

The physical therapy program at The University of Findlay is accepting applications for the Fall 2009 doctor of physical therapy (DPT) class until Dec. 1, 2008. This is a full-time five-day-a-week program for three years, at which time students will have earned a DPT degree.

Students must meet the program prerequisites, posses a bachelor’s degree or be an eligible UF student in his or her junior year. Graduates of this program are generalist practitioners and have the ability to function in a variety of settings, geographical locations and roles. These roles may include service provision, client advocacy, research, education, consultation, referral and administration.

The curriculum stresses a balance of liberal arts, basic sciences, foundational sciences, clinical sciences and clinical education in order to produce a well-rounded graduate who possesses a global perspective of the factors that influence human function through the life span and contribute to quality of life.

There is an emphasis on critical thinking and lifelong, self-directed learning to enable graduates to function in an ever changing health care environment. Service to the profession and the community are also incorporated into the curriculum.

Applications for the weekend college physical therapy assistant (PTA) to DPT program will be available after Jan. 1, 2009, and be accepted through May 1, 2009.

The DPT program at The University of Findlay is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE), 1111 North Fairfax Street, Alexandria, VA  22314; accreditation@apta.org; 1-703-684-2782 or 1-703-706-3275.
