Wildlife Photographs by Bendig on Display
Monday, October 06, 2008

“Life at the Edge of The Forest,” a collection of original nature and wildlife photographs by Gary Bendig, will be on display at The University of Findlay’s Lea Gallery, located in the Virginia B. Gardner Fine Arts Pavilion, Oct. 6 through Oct. 31. The exhibition is free and open to the public from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

An artist’s reception will be held on Friday, Oct. 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Virginia B. Gardner Fine Arts Pavilion. Light refreshments will be served.

A native of the Cleveland area, Bendig received a bachelor of education degree from Bowling Green State University. Nature and wildlife photography remained a dream for 30 years.

Bendig recently found a practical way to discover wildlife. “I was walking the trail around Harrison Lake one afternoon when I spotted a heron near shore. I went off the trail with my camera and crunched through twigs for about 10 feet on the way to water when the bird took off. I remember thinking I should be approaching from the other side, and that’s when I discovered something called a kayak. Now I can just paddle around silently and see what’s out there at my leisure.”

Bendig is a co-founder of Polygraphics Inc., doing business as Kohne Camera & Photo, in Perrysburg.
