The University of Findlay recently announced the endowment of the James D. and Judith L. Philipp Award of Excellence for the
College of Education, established with heartfelt love and dedication to UF by Duane and Judy Philipp, as part of the University’s 125th anniversary celebration.
This award is to recognize excellence in the areas of teaching, supervision and support of students in the College of Education.
Mr. Philipp received his bachelor’s degree from Findlay College in business education in 1959 and his master’s degree from Bowling Green State University in 1976. In 1979, he joined the UF Board of Trustees, on which he served 24 years and was elected trustee emeritus in May 2000. He also served 20 years on the Alumni Board of Governors.
Mr. Philipp became the teacher licensure officer and supervisor of field experience students at UF in 1992 and continues to serve in that capacity. Together, Mr. and Mrs. Philipp continue to support The University of Findlay in many ways.
The goal of the endowed fund drive is to create 125 new endowed funds for student scholarship, faculty development and program support. As of the launch date, 50 new funds totaling approximately $2 million have been created.
