Female Veterans’ Scholarship Endowed
Thursday, October 09, 2008

The University of Findlay recently announced the endowment of the James W. ’63 and Karis S. Woodward Female Veterans’ Scholarship Endowment Fund, made possible by the generosity of the couple in honor of their daughters, as part of the University’s 125th anniversary celebration.

Mr. and Mrs. Woodward established this scholarship in honor of the daughters, Jill L. Zeto and Judith A. Bunting, both of whom served the nation in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps.

The scholarship is offered to female veterans who were discharged with honorable service in the U.S. active or reserve military service or are currently serving in the U.S. active or reserve military service. Each recipient must maintain a GPA of at least 2.8.

The goal of the endowed fund drive is to create 125 new endowed funds for student scholarship, faculty development and program support. As of the launch date, 44 new funds totaling approximately $2 million have been created.

A steering committee consisting of University alumni and friends has been organized to provide leadership during the drive. Members of the steering committee are:

•    A.R. ’66 and Mary Ann Charnes, national co-chairs
•    Dr. Robert Frampton, College of Health Professions
