Thursday, January 15, 2009
The University of Findlay will offer two opportunities to explore India and its business environment. UF is a co-sponsor of the India-USA Global Business and Networking Strategy Conference in Chennai, India, June 12-14, and the University is organizing an India study abroad program June 14-24. Community participants are welcome. Last year, the University co-sponsored the India-USA Global Business and PR Conference in Chennai, which was well-attended by business executives and entrepreneurs. This year’s conference will provide an opportunity to showcase proposals, products and projects, as well as opportunities for networking. With the study abroad program, participants will visit businesses, educational institutions, governmental agencies and also places of tourist interest to understand business and gather competitive cultural insights from the market. Travel and accommodations are air-conditioned. The registration fee for the conference is $895 per person before March 1 and $995 after that and includes three nights hotel accommodation. The registration fee for the study abroad is $1,950 before Jan. 31, and the price goes up $50 each month after that date.
Airfare is not included in the fee. Participants are encouraged to purchase their own tickets. For those who want the trip organizers to purchase airline tickets for them, it generally costs around $2,000 in economy class per person for a round-trip airline ticket from most U.S. airports to Chennai, India. A passport and visa are required. Chennai is a 369-year-old city in a region that serves as a hub for small automotive vehicles, information technology, silk, textiles and jewelry and is home to numerous high-quality educational and health care institutions. It is a city of rapid growth with more than 7 million people. Foreign corporations are flocking to set up business relationships in and around Chennai, according to Dr. Nabarun Ghose, organizer.
