It's Story Time at Tales for Tots
Friday, January 09, 2009
Tales for Tots, a new program at The University of Findlay’s Mazza Museum, will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, at the museum. Preschoolers and their parents are invited to get excited about reading with interactive story telling. January’s program theme is Snow Magic. Tales for Tots will take place the second Tuesday of each month during the academic year. Following programs will be Feb. 10 (Celebrate Seuss), March 10 (Move Over, Rover), April 14 (Back in Time) and May 12 (Nature Tales). Each session will be from 11 to 11:30 a.m. Each Tales for Tots program is interactive, allowing children to participate in the literary fun. Sessions may include costumes, puppets, music or special collections related to the story. Gail Lazarczyk is the Story Nana, interacting with and reading to the children. Lazarczyk is an active volunteer and docent at the museum with a talent for story telling. She also is a former elementary school teacher. Terry Olthouse, education coordinator at the Mazza Museum, said Tales for Tots is a way to help parents understand and appreciate what Mazza can do for their children. “I’d like to see more parents understanding what a great resource Mazza is for children in showing them how to integrate the arts with literature,” said Olthouse.
