Triage Theatre Tests Actors’, Writers’ Skills
Wednesday, January 21, 2009
The University of Findlay’s annual Triage Theatre performance will be at 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, in Egner Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets are $5 at the door. Twenty-four hours prior to the performance, groups of between five and six students will be given a theme, which changes each year and will not be revealed to anyone prior to Friday evening. The theme is chosen by theater faculty and staff members. Once the theme is announced, a playwright is chosen from each group, and the playwright works through the night to complete a 10-minute scene. By 10 a.m. Saturday morning, all participants will return to the theater to learn their parts and rehearse together. Actors have until 7 p.m. to learn their lines and stage the scenes. Each group is given a time slot to practice on stage and work on technical aspects such as lighting and sound cues. During the performance, audience members vote on their favorite plays. Proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to charity, with the winning team choosing the charity.
Triage Theatre is presented each year by APO, an honorary theater fraternity on UF’s campus.
