“Greening Your Space” Topic of March 17 Event

The University’s Findlay Green Campus Initiative (FGCI) will host “Greening Your Space: Toward a More Sustainable Dorm, Apartment, Home” from 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, in the Pfeiffer Lecture Hall, located in the Gardner Fine Arts Pavilion on campus. Catherine Hernandez will be the featured speaker, and UF students may enter a drawing to win a free bicycle. Community members are welcome to attend the free event; only UF students are eligible for the bicycle drawing. Hernandez is a native of East Toledo and a graduate of Bowling Green State University. She worked for Project FEED, a program to recruit future educators to enhance diversity, while pursuing her master’s degree at BGSU. Hernandez is currently a fourth grade teacher at Whittier Elementary School in the Toledo Public Schools district. Hernandez is a founding member of the Urban Environmental Institute and hopes to continue to talk about the importance of environmental education and sustainable living.
