The Toledo Symphony Orchestra to Perform Pops Concert Sept. 18

The University of Findlay’s 2009-2010 Concert and Lecture Series will begin at 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, in Winebrenner Theological Seminary with the Toledo Symphony Orchestra’s Pops concert. Maestro Chelsea Tipton II will conduct the performance, with Margo Watson as featured soprano. The audience will recognize several pieces: selections from “The Sound of Music,” “Seventy-Six Trombones,” “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Misérables and several others from well-known productions. The concert is made possible, in part, through the generosity of Dr. C. Richard Beckett and Mrs. Linda Beckett; Dr. George Whitson and Mrs. Shirlee Whitson; and Dr. Charles J. Younger and Dr. Mariann Younger. Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for senior citizens and $10 for students. Admission for UF undergraduate and graduate students is free, but a ticket is required. UF faculty and staff may purchase tickets for $15. Tickets are available by calling the Box Office at 419-434-5335 or e-mail boxoffice@findlay.edu. Future performances in the Concert and Lecture Series include a classics concert at 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29, 2010, featuring music by Mozart and Strauss; and a classics concert at 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, 2010, featuring “The Planets” by Gustav Holst.
