Art by
Lynn Rowe Reed will be on display Oct. 5 – Nov. 6 at The University of
Findlay’s Lea Gallery, located inside the Virginia B. Gardner Fine Arts Pavilion.
An
artist’s reception will be 6–8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, in the gallery.
Reed has been working as
an artist for more than 20 years. Her illustrations have appeared in
publications such as The Wall Street Journal, and she has illustrated 13
children’s books, including “Punctuation Takes a Vacation.”
Reed employs a whimsical,
contemporary style that is fresh and engaging to people of all ages. The New
York Times (May 18, 2004) stated that “Lynn Rowe Reed’s childlike acrylic
paintings perfectly capture the mood of whimsical fantasy.”
Reed’s work has garnered
many awards, and it has appeared in The Best of Children’s Book Illustration
Show at the Museum of American Illustration in New York City. She recently
completed an illustration for the National Public Radio Web site. In addition
to being a painter/illustrator, Reed creates steel sculpture and ceramic
vessels. One of her steel sculptures can be seen in the office of C. Henry
Steel of Fort Wayne, Ind. Reed works from a studio space at the Kachmann Building
