Four Faith Traditions to be Discussed at Religious Studies Lecture Series

The University of Findlay will
offer a religious studies lecture series from 8 –9:15 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26, and
Tuesday, Oct. 27, in Ritz Auditorium, located in Old Main.
Four regional
religious leaders from four different faith traditions will address three
topics:
- What are the ways in which the religious tradition
interacts with the American culture?

How does the religious tradition foster spiritual
development among the faithful?
-
What types of discrimination or prejudices do persons
of the religious tradition experience and what can be done to address them?
Speakers include:
- Imam Farooq S. Abo-Elzahab, Islamic, Oct. 26; Abo-Elzahab
is imam and director of the Islamic Center of Greater Toledo.
- Rabbi Edward Gersek, Jewish, Oct. 26; Gersek is the
rabbi of Congregation Etz Chayim.
- Father Michael Hohenbrink, Catholic, Oct. 27; Hohenbrink
is pastor of Saint Michael the Archangel Parish in Findlay and the dean of the
Carey Deanery.
- Dr. Chajang Teresa Beamsley, Buddhism, Oct. 27;
Beamsley is a Buddhist teacher.
