The University of Findlay Announces Comprehensive Campaign Goal of $40 Million
Friday, October 01, 2010

The University of Findlay has formally announced a comprehensive campaign with a goal of raising $40 million in private support.

At a kick-off dinner for donors and supporters this evening, Dr. Katherine Fell, University president, announced the campaign goal and revealed that nearly $20 million has been raised during the campaign’s quiet phase.

“We believe in the value of a private university education, and we believe in the values upon which The University of Findlay was founded,” Fell said. “The time is now for people who love the University to lift it toward its full promise.”

She emphasized that this will be a far-reaching campaign to attract increased private support regionally, nationally and internationally.

Titled “Give Voice to Your Values,” the campaign will focus on three key priorities:
  • Modern Learning Environments  — including proposed buildings, classrooms, laboratories, courts and fields to provide state-of-the-art facilities for students. Some projects have already been identified, and new ones will be added as the University’s strategic planning process progresses.
  • A Sound Financial Future — increasing endowment funds to guarantee financial stability and predictability.
  • A Robust Operating Environment — increasing annual cash gifts to ensure that the University is able to keep tuition and fees at the lowest levels possible and to respond to emerging opportunities promptly and effectively.
The centerpiece of the Give Voice to Your Values campaign is a new 30,000-square-foot science building that will add eight cutting-edge science laboratories, high-technology classrooms and lecture halls, eight faculty offices and student lounges. Situated adjacent to the life science and pharmacy areas in the Davis Street building, the facility will provide space for a planned expansion of the pharmacy program, additional programs in diagnostic medical imaging, and the new health informatics program.

In the area of endowments, the University kicked off a 125th Endowed Funds Drive during the celebration of its 125th anniversary in 2007, and since that time has established 99 new endowed funds and added nearly $8 million to the University’s endowment.

Focusing on annual giving, the University community itself is leading the way in supporting operations. The number of faculty and staff who made cash gifts during the last fiscal year tripled from the year before, and the total number of dollars contributed also tripled, reflecting faculty and staff members’ belief in the future of the institution.
